Lead by certified instructors and open to youth ages 10 and up, all trips are week long camping adventures in Maine this summer. Skill and team building are emphasized with this program.
Adventure Week One
July 21-July 25, 2008
Biking, Kayaking, & Whitewater Rafting
This trip starts out with a drive up to Maine and setting up camp on Monday. Tuesday you’ll you will learn the basics of kayaking on calm water with a moving current. Wednesday you will go on with a bike trip around the scenic trails along the Kennebec River. Check out the wildlife on your trip and be sure to bring a camera! The fourth day, you will begin a 14 mile whitewater rafting run of the river, stopping for lunch on the way. On Friday, your adventure comes to an end as you pack & head home to tell your family and friends about all your amazing adventures this week!
Adventure Week Two
July 28-August 1, 2008
Rock Climbing, Hiking & Wbitewater Rafting
Also open to youth 10 and older, we travel to Acadia National Park in Maine on Monday. On Tuesday you will go rock climbing with certified climbing guides. The next day you will be hiking in the park followed up by a swim. Thursday brings a day biking along the carriage paths in the National park and Friday brings you back to Nottingham to tell everyone about your adventure of a lifetime!
Payment and other details:
ITINERARY – For both trips we will meet at the Community Center at 9:00 am and arriving back at the community center before 3:30 pm.
WHAT TO BRING – Sleeping bag and ground mat; 1 bag containing clothes including a warm fleece or sweatshirt, a wind jacket, an extra pair of boots/sneakers, ample warm socks, and toiletries, and a bag lunch for the ride to camp. Additional information will be provided in the weeks prior to departure.
COST – Registration fee ($15 before May 23; $25 after) plus $400 for each week, all inclusive (all certified instruction costs, food, camping and supervision). Full payment must be received by June 1. The success of these programs relies on adequate enrollment so space is limited. Sign up early. Some funding is provided through Rockingham County Incentive Funds.
