Marston Farm Recreation Area Updates

Baseball Field

There is some good stuff happening at Marston Farm Recreation Area!

Spring has Sprung and we are starting to see some grass and some progress down at the Softball and Baseball Fields. A dedicated group of individuals and the NYA are helping to construct dugouts. With this addition, these fields will be playable. Thank you volunteers for the help and support!

Another thank you goes out to Nathanial Lo Vecchio, an Eagle Scout and his crew for their hard work on Community Clean Up Day. He created a pollinator garden with a sitting area. He also constructed a connecting trail that leads to the existing trails onsite already. He planted low maintenance plants, including milkweed, so that the upkeep is minimal. He plans to get two place cards set up with the names of the plants, and hopefully will qualify as a certified wildlife habitat designation from the National Wildlife Federation. This organization is well known and should bring an extra layer of authenticity to the garden. His hope is that the garden will bring all types of pollinators back to the community, as well as be another relaxing activity at the property.

Thank you everyone for making our outdoor spaces beautiful, we cannot wait to spend time together at Marston this year with our programs and sport activities. Please follow along on our website for more information regarding our Needs Assessment as we want to hear from our community on what YOU want to see happen with our indoor and outdoor spaces.
