Woodman Named Chief of Police

F Woodman

The Select Board is pleased to announce that Fawn M. Woodman will become the next Chief of the Nottingham Police Department.  She will take office upon the retirement of Gunnar Foss on January 1, 2021.

Woodman, currently a Lieutenant, has been with Nottingham PD for 12 years and worked up through the ranks as a patrol officer and Sergeant.  She has worked as the D.A.R.E and L.E.A.D. instructor, and Field Training Officer, and holds a B.S. from Southern New Hampshire University. Prior to Nottingham she was an officer for the NH Marine Patrol.   Fawn lives in Nottingham with her wife and two children.

The Select Board retained the services of Municipal Resources, Inc., to help with the recruiting and screening of candidates.  Applicants came from ten states, and the review process included essay questions and multiple interviews.  The Select Board was joined by Nottingham School Principal Chris Sousa for one round of interviews.

A public recognition event for Chief Foss has been postponed due to public health concerns, but the Board plans to hold a thank-you event this spring.
