COMMUNICATION POLICY Established June 2017

Here at Nottingham Recreation, it is our policy that the children come first. We are not always able to answer the phone or reply to emails immediately because we are tending to the children. However we will answer all emails and phone calls during breaks. Safety is our first concern and we cannot properly monitor staff and children if we are on our phones or in the office.

Respect is another part of communication that is the base of our relationship. Parents may not belittle, accuse, or attack staff verbally or electronically in any way and actions such as these will result in the immediate termination of care, termination from the event, or termination of the program attending. If a problem does arise it will be handled professionally and calmly and NOT in the presence of others.

Gossip, slander, and lack of confidentiality is also cause for immediate termination of care, termination from an event or termination from a program attending.

It is important that you have trust in the staff and the care that we provide. If for any reason our care does not meet your standards you may first professionally seek advisement of Kortney Dorow. If you are still unsatisfied in the quality of care or our practices it is your choice to find alternative care. We understand our program may not meet the needs of all children. Although we try to accommodate the needs of all children, families, and staff we are responsible for over 70 families and may not be able to meet all needs. We will not accommodate demands, tolerate abuse or bulling (verbally or electronically) from parents, guardians, children, or anyone. We take pride in creating a safe, fun, and engaging environment for children, families, and staff. We believe this is a team effort between all parties and ask for your assistance in communication and understanding.

Bullying: Bullying can be a criminal offence. Any parent/guardian, client, customer, or member of the public that participates in any of the below actions toward staff while working with children will be reported to the police as suggested by

Behaviors that may be a part of workplace bullying include where someone regularly:

abuses, insults or uses offensive language or comments directed at you

engages in unjustified criticism or complaints against you

deliberately excludes you from workplace activities

withholds information vital to your effective work performance

sets you unreasonable timelines or constantly changes your deadlines

sets tasks that are unreasonably below or beyond your skill level

denies you access to information, supervision, consultation or resources to your detriment

spreads false or malicious rumours about you

changes work arrangements such as rosters and leave to deliberately inconvenience you

emails you, leaves you messages by phone or other electronic means that are offensive or intimidating

Thank you for taking the time to review our communications policy. As Always, we are here for any comments, questions, concerns, and ideas to help enhance our program.

Thank you,

-Kortney Dorow & Samantha Beaudoin
