July is Parks and Recreation Month!
During their July 25th 2022 meeting
Nottingham's Board of Selectmen
Recognized Nottingham's Parks and Recreation Department
for their contribution to the citizens of Nottingham by
declaring annually that July is Parks and Recreation Month!
Each day across the country, parks and recreation professionals rise up for their communities in service of equity, climate-readiness, and overall health and well-being. Parks are at the center of so many experiences and memories — moments that park and recreation professionals help make happen. Local parks are often our first experiences in nature, our introduction to a favorite hobby or physical activity. They are places to gather with friends and family, spaces to celebrate life’s special moments, spots of respite and healing, sites that connect us with essential community services and so much more.
They do so much more than “babysitting” or “hosting events.” They are disciplinarians, nurses with magic band aids and ice packs, creators of FUN and memories, nurturing figures when a camper is sad, a listening ear when a camper or patron needs to vent or talk, and most importantly a best friend and a role model who cares for each person that walks into their offices or participates in a program.
