The NH Department of Revenue Administration has finalized the Town’s 2022 tax rate at $19.11 per thousand dollars of assessed value. That is a decrease of $0.31, or -1.6%, compared to 2021.

A few factors go into determining the tax rate:

  • The amount of money needed to cover budget appropriations, as approved by voters at Town and School District Meetings;
  • The amount of money needed to cover State School Tax and County Tax obligations. These are set by the state and county, not the town;
  • Anticipated revenues to offset some of the budget appropriations;
  • The total value of property in Town.

Two tax bills are issued each year. The June bill is generally equal to one half of last year’s full year bill. The December bill calculates the full year at the new tax rate. Therefore, the second bill is larger for most properties.

The tax bills were mailed on December 13th and are due Wednesday January 18th, 2023.  The Tax Collector's hours are Tuesdays 9am to 11am and Wednesdays 4pm to 6pm.   The Tax Collector will have extended hours on Tuesday January 17th 8am - 2pm, and 4pm - 8pm on January 18th.

Following is a breakdown of the components of the tax rate:
